An Experimental Study of the Effect of Apernyl and Hostacillin on the Healing Process of Extraction Wound.

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to observe the effect of Apernyl and Hostacillin on the healing process of extraction wounds of rats.
Fourty-five rats weighing about 150g were used for this study and maxillary left incisors were extracted.
They were divided into 3 groups; experimental group I was inserted with Apernyl into the extraction socket, experimental group 11 was inserted with Apernyl and aqueous Hostacillin, and control group was observed without any medicament.
Each group of rats were sacrificed on the 3rd, 7th, 14th, 21th and 28th day after extraction.
All specimens were decalcified, embedded in paraffin for slide preparation and stained with Hematoxylin and Eosin.
The results were as follows;
1. In the control group, blood clot of extraction socket was satisfactorily filled, but hemolysis of blood clot was found at the drug inserted area in the experimental groups.
2. The inflammatory reaction was increased in the experimental group I and decreased in the experimental group If in compared with the control group. 3. The organization of blood clot was delayed in the experimental groups in compared with the control group.
4. The proliferation of epithelial regeneration was begun on the 3rd day and completed on the 14th day after extraction, but delayed in the experimental group in compared with the control group.
5. New bone formation was prominent in the control group in compared with the experimental groups in the early stage. But there was no difference in ossification among groups in the later stage.
